The Third Floor
The third floor of this stately mansion consists of four rooms. One of the rooms is used by the governor as a fitness room. It is filled with exercise equipment, a treadmill, exercycle, a sauna and other personal fitness machines.
There are two furnished bedrooms on this floor. The first of these rooms is La Petite. The smallest of all the guest rooms, it was decorated as a replica of the Barbara Bush room at the White House. Its color scheme is blue and yellow and as all other guest rooms in the Mansion, has an adjoining bathroom with coordinating detail.
The second bedroom on this floor is furnished with twin beds that were purchased by the Foundation from Dale Poole through an antique dealer in Jennings, Louisiana. The beds were manufactured in the late 1800’s. The room houses a dresser and a bench, a chest of drawers, and a rocker. It is sometimes referred to as the “monkey room” as the decor has somewhat of a jungle atmosphere. The room was creatively redecorated by Mansion staffers and reflects the current fads. The drapes and the bed spread from the Capitol Suite were redesigned and sewn to conform to the twin beds. The adjoining full bath is coordinated to match the bedroom.
