The Louisiana Governor’s Mansion Foundation Circle of Friends is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the preservation and beautification of the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion. The grassroots campaign encourages all Louisiana citizens to become a part of the refurbishment efforts and preservation of the Governor’s Mansion for future generations.
Founder, Alice Foster created the Foundation, her inspiration being that all citizens feel a sense of ownership and pride in the Mansion. This project would provide the necessary resources to continue the refurbishment and preservation of the Governor’s Mansion.
In an effort to involve young people, Founder Alice Foster worked with Louisiana State University Mass Communications students to develop the Circle of Friends program. ‘Preserving the Past-Enriching the Future” serves as the Circle of Friends motto. The campaign’s logo incorporates a pelican, with its wings spread around the mansion, symbolizing Louisiana citizens overseeing its preservation, surrounded by the phrase “The Louisiana Governor’s Mansion Circle of Friends” symbolizing everlasting unity. Students coordinating the program were Sara Bryan, Tommy Hassenboehier, Tiffany Keith, Melissa Mezger, Sara Plaisance and Allison Stiel. Larry Loup, of Baton Rouge, created the logo.
Circle of Friends is a three-fold program consisting of a Grassroots Segment for individuals, Professional and Corporate Segment, and Scholastic Segment for the young people of our state.
Circle of Friends memberships begin at $25 and increase at various levels. Charter members have their names inscribed in a leather bound book at the Mansion. Various incentives are received for different levels of contributions. Individuals or corporations that would like to make a memorable contribution to the Mansion can contact the Mansion Foundation's Office or click here for wish list. Tax-deductible donations can be made to the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion Foundation.
